Advocacies

Advocacies. Hm. I have plenty, the main one being my country. Tell you about that later. Meantime, let me introduce Jennelyn Rosete von Alvensleben, who runs Geneva-Manila Express from Geneva and Bern. She's been planting mangrove trees throughout the length of the Agno River for years, in the effort to stop erosion and siltation that are bound to destroy the people's livelihood.

Well, what do you know -- recently, the Barangay Captain of Bangan Oda in Jenny's town of Agno, Pangasinan, gave a permit to some company to quarry right in the middle of the fattest portion of the river! Jenny's fighting the move since it will damage the Agno River further. When she talked to the Barangay Captain about it, do you know how he answered her? Words to this effect, reports Jenny:

"Subukan na muna natin ng isang taon, at kung may masamang epekto, e de itigil."

Can anybody stop the quarrying after all that has been invested in it?
